There is no Fall 2009 Department of Sociology Commencement.
JANUARY/FEBRUARY
_ Degree Check
Make sure you're completing all of your university, college, and major requirements. For a quick check, request a DARS audit through BearFacts. If you find a discrepancy regarding an L&S requirement (Breadth, Reading & Comp, Quantitative Reasoning, Foreign Language), see an L&S advisor. For discrepancies in the major, see a major advisor.
_ Degree List (for Spring 2009 graduates)
If you're planning to finish all your requirements during the Spring 2009 semester, notify the university of your intention to graduate by placing yourself on the degree list via Tele-BEARS by the start of classes; after that, file a "Petition to be Added to the Degree List" at L&S in 113 Campbell A.S.A.P. or by May 21st at the very latest. You may remove yourself from the Degree List the same way and by the same dates. To find out whether or not you're on the degree list, check your Personal Profile on BearFacts or call Info-BEARS at (510) 642-9400.
MARCH
_ Register for the Sociology Commencement Ceremony
The Sociology Graduation will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009 in Zellerbach Auditorium. Ceremony begins at 1:45 p.m. Spring 09, Summer 08, Summer 09, Fall 08, and Fall 09 graduates are invited to participate. Complete the Exit Survey and Registration Form online before March 31. Check out the rest of the website for information about what to do on commencement day, caps & gowns, ordering photographs, getting your diploma, parking, and more.

_ Order your Grad Pack and/or rent your cap & gown from the Cal Student Store

APRIL
_ Attend the Cal Student Store’s Grad Finale Event.
April 7-10, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Cal Student Store. Come for your first chance to pick up graduation tickets (to the University-wide Commencement on May 22nd, 2009 in the Greek Theatre), get your cap and gown, check out class rings, contribute to the Senior Class gift and more. _ Get Tickets for the Sociology Commencement
Get your tickets April 13-17 at 410 Barrows, 9:15-11:45 & 12:15-3:45. Tickets are $5 each; bring cash. See details about tickets here.
_ Extra Ticket Sale Day
If we have extra tickets to sell after the initial sale period (April 13-17), they will go on sale Thursday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. outside of 410 Barrows Hall. Click here for more information regarding the Extra Ticket Sale Day.
_ Deadline to apply to be the Undergraduate Student Speaker
Each year we select one student to present the Sociology Undergraduate Address during the ceremony. Any graduating senior in sociology may apply to be the speaker. If interested, you should submit a typewritten draft (more than an outline) of your proposed speech to the Sociology Undergraduate Advising Office in Barrows Hall by Friday, April 24. The speech should be no longer than 5 minutes. The Chair of the Sociology Department reviews the proposals and makes the final selection. _Deadline to apply for Departmental Citation
The Departmental Citation is an award recognizing undergraduate excellence in the UC Berkeley Sociology Department. Each year we select one graduating senior to receive this award for his/her outstanding accomplishments in sociology. For application information, please see sociology.berkeley.edu
_ Get Tickets for the Campus-Wide Commencement Convocation
Commencement convocation, the campus-wide graduation ceremony, will be held Friday, May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Greek Theatre. For more information, visit seniors.berkeley.edu

_ Wheelchair / Special Seating Needs

_ Thursday, May 21st - Commencement Day!
All graduates should arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. Doors to Zellerbach will open at 1:00 p.m. and seating is first-come, first-serve. Click here for more information.
_ Keep your address, phone, and email information current via BearFacts for at least 4 months after leaving Cal, in case the university needs to contact you about the processing of your degree.

_ Diplomas for Spring 2009 graduates
