Diplomas
The ceremonial scroll you receive at Commencement is not an actual diploma, since degrees take several months to process.
Approximately 4 months after your graduation date, you may obtain your diploma in person at the Office of the Registrar, 120 Sproul Hall, or you may request to have it mailed to you.
To assist you in requesting your diploma, you may use the Diploma Request Form.
If requesting your diploma by letter, please include your name, birthdate, Social Security number, SID, degree and date of award, and the address to which you want the diploma sent. Mailing charges are US$12.00 within the United States or US$32.00 outside the United States. Diplomas are sent by UPS. Since a signature is required, someone must be available to sign for the diploma. Please note that unclaimed diplomas are retained for a period of five (5) years only, after which they are destroyed.
Checks should be made payable to the University of California Regents, and must be included with your mailed request.
Mail your request to the Office of the Registrar, Attention Diplomas, 120 Sproul Hall, University of California, Berkeley, California 94720-5404.
