We will explore several different methods for gathering and assessing evidence about the social world, including survey research, participant observation, and the time-honored method of assertion. Students will pursue an empirical research question or set of empirical research questions of their own choosing throughout the semester; each approach we treat will allow one to obtain and consider different kinds of evidence with respect to the question.
