Isabel Garcíis a rising second year Ph.D. student in Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley.  She is originally from Joliet, Illinois and graduated with a BA in Chicana/o Latina/o Studies and Sociology from Pomona College in Claremont, California.   She is currently working on the impact of immigration policy/legal status of mixed-status families on family interrelationships using families both eligible and ineligible for Deferred Action for Parents of Americans citizens and residents (DAPA) as a case study.
