Calendar and Deadlines

April 16th - Sociology Departmental Exit Survey.  We request that all Sociology majors complete the exit survey as they prepare to depart the program.  We highly value student input.  We use this information to review our program and introduce new initiatives.  Recent examples of responses to student input have been the creation of special Writing Sections in Theory and the Research Methods Concentration.  Please complete the survey by May 21st, 2021.

April 24th- Final day to submit your personal graduation slide details for the MarchingOrder platform. Students will receive emails from central campus reminding them of this deadline and providing links.

April 26th  (subject to change) - Each year we select one student to present the Sociology Undergraduate Address during the ceremony. Any graduating senior in sociology may apply to be the speaker. If interested, you should email a draft (more than an outline) of your proposed speech to Cristina Rojas at cmrojas@berkeley.edu.  The speech should be no longer than 3- 4 minutes. The Sociology Department reviews the proposals and makes the final selection. For additional information, please see an Undergraduate Advisor.

April 30th @ 4pm- To view the application, click HERE.  The Departmental Citation is an award recognizing undergraduate excellence in the Dept. Each year we select one graduating senior to receive this award for his/her outstanding accomplishments for Sociology. More information regarding applications will be available soon.  

May 15th - Commencement Convocation is a university-wide event celebrating the graduation of the Class of 2021. All graduating seniors (regardless of their major) are welcome to attend this virtual event. It will be held on Saturday, May 16th 9:00 am.

May 17th- Sociology Graduation Celebration Day! Our virtual event will be held from 10:00 - 11:30 am (Pacific Standard Time).  There will continue to be recorded sections of the event available on our Sociology website for viewing at a later time as well.
