I graduated from Pomona College in 2016 (cum laude) with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Asian American studies. Broadly, my research foci include culture, globalization, and urban education. Prior to Berkeley, I worked on projects that dealt with second-generation migrant social network choices and globalized educational institutions in Vietnam.
I have two ongoing projects. The first looks at the rise of English language education in Vietnam and the varied meanings attached to becoming proficient at English in the region. The second examines an urban debate league that works at under-resourced racial minority high schools. Both projects examine the ways that different pedagogical methods train students to behave and act in ways that reflect broader social patterns in global and urban education.
