Benjamin Fields is a 4th year Ph.D. student at the University of California, Berkeley. He is interested in immigration, development, globalization , Africa and its diaspora, and quantitative methods. His current project is on understanding how American media coverage has changed since the beginning of the century on her citizens leaving the country. He previously graduated from Cornell University with a double major and octuple minor, and was awarded with the 2020 Best Senior Honors Thesis from the Center for the Study of Inequality. At Berkeley, he is the recipient of the Eugene V. Cota-Robles Fellowship and the Computational Social Sciences Training Grant funded by the National Institutes of Health. He has had previous stints at the United Nations Development Program, Carter Center, and other think-tanks, NGOs, and intergovernmental organizations.
