Dominic Cedillo
Dominic (He/Him) is a first-year PhD student and Chancellor's Fellow. He is interested in understanding how racialized inequality persists in urban communities. In addition, he is interested in how urban communities respond to, and sometimes affirm, growing right-wing sentiment surrounding explanations of poverty and ideas about race and gender.
A Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, his previous research has covered the trajectory of racial diversity, integration, and inequality in the formation of modern Pentecostalism. Moreover, Dominic has conducted research that tracked the rise and eventual stagnation of Latino Studies Departments nationwide. Culminating in the co-authored publication "How many Latino studies programs are there? Tracking departmental growth, stagnation, and invisibility 1960–2020" in the Latino Studies Journal.
In 2024, Dominic graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Ethnic Studies and Political Science.
