Currently a Shorenstein Postdoctoral Fellow in Contemporary Asia at Stanford University, Jeffrey received his Ph.D. in sociology from UC Berkeley in May 2020. His research centers on the politics of language, ethnoracial formation and nation-building in China, and his work has appeared in the Journal of Asian Studies, Theory & Society, and the European Journal of Sociology.
