Jeffrey will be a Shorenstein Postdoctoral Fellow on Contemporary Asia at Stanford University starting in the autumn of 2020. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from UC Berkeley in May 2020, and holds a BA in Political Science and International Studies from Yale University. His research centers on the politics of language, ethnoracial formation and nation-building in China, and his work has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Asian Studies, Theory and Society, and the European Journal of Sociology. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation.
