Many of our faculty serve as directors, advisors or affiliates of various campus Centers and Organized Research Units (ORUs).
ORUs are centers of interdisciplinary study and research collaboration. They serve to disseminate results through research conferences and workshops.
ORUs provide graduate student research and training opportunities, access to facilities and can also be a source of extramural research funds.
A few examples include the Berkeley Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative, the Berkeley Population Center and the Center for the Study of Law and Society among many.
We encourage students to seek out centers and ORUs that relate to their areas of interest.
