Mary Shi's dissertation won the Theda Skocpol Dissertation Award from the Comparative Historical Section of the ASA. The dissertation is titled: Settlers’ Republic: Land, Infrastructure, and the Emergence of New Technologies of Government in the United States, 1789-1862.
Mary graduated from UC Berkeley Sociology in 2024. and is currently an LSA Collegiate Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Michigan.
