Doctoral student Hero Ashman was award the 2026 Dorothy S. Thomas Award from the Population Association of America for her paper, "Marriage and the racial division of reproductive labor: Evidence from the Great Migration, 1910-1940." The award "is presented annually for the best graduate student paper on the interrelationships among social, economic and demographic variables." In the fall, Ashman will begin a postdoc at the Center for Race, Inequality, and Social Equity Studies at Harvard.
