I am interested in how people care for themselves and their families under capitalism. My dissertation focuses on the role of reproductive labor within racial capitalism. I ask: how has the organization of domestic labor between the family and the labor market contributed to inequality among families? I use historical Census data to explore this question in the US in the early 20th century.
