I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at UC Berkeley, where I study polarization and the constitution of political conflict. I want to understand how polarization is related to other kinds of conflict, what makes it different, and how polarization as a distributional property of public opinion is connected to real political conflict.

My dissertation pursues this agenda by studying how social movements influence and are influenced by mass polarization, and by looking at how polarization manifests differentially across groups.
