Verify that your Expected Graduation Term is correct
Please verify that the Expected Graduation Term is correct by checking Cal Central. In the Personal Summary section of Cal Central, Spring 2019 (or Summer 2019) if you are graduating that term) will be listed under ‘Expected Graduation.’ If it is incorrect and needs to be changed, please contact either Sociology adviser.



   Register for the Sociology Commencement Ceremony
The Sociology Graduation will be held Sunday, May 19th at 8:45am in Zellerbach Auditorium. Register through this link.

The Graduation Gown Lending Project is a service that is only offered to students that are EOP. Please check their website for more information.

Get Tickets for the Sociology Commencement*
After registering for the Sociology Commencement, you may visit either Cristina Rojas or Seng Saelee to pick up your TWO free tickets. Please note that students participating in the Sociology Commencement do no need to purchase a ticket for themselves.

If you need additional tickets, you may purchase them directly from Cal Performances Box Office. You may purchase up to six additional tickets per transaction at a cost of $10 per ticket.

*Please note that tickets are available for purchase to the general public. If you have concerns about a specific individual attending commencement, please inform Seng Saelee or Cristina Rojas immediately.

□ Deadline to apply for Departmental Citation: April 5th @ 4pm

The Departmental Citation is an award recognizing undergraduate excellence in the UC Berkeley Sociology Department. Each year we select one graduating senior to receive this award for his/her outstanding accomplishments in sociology.  Please see the Dept. website for more information.

□ Deadline to apply to be the Undergraduate Student Speaker: April 5th

Each year we select one student to present the Sociology Undergraduate Address during the ceremony. Any graduating senior in Sociology may apply to be the speaker. If interested, you should email a draft (more than an outline) of your proposed speech to Cristina Rojas at by Friday, April 5th. The speech should be no longer than 5 minutes. The Sociology Department reviews the proposals and makes the final selection. For additional information, please see an Undergraduate Advisor.

Get Tickets for the Campus-Wide Commencement Convocation
Commencement Convocation will be held Saturday, May 18th at 10:00am at California Memorial Stadium. For more information, visit

  Friday, May 10th-Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) Honors Cord

Pick up your Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) Honors Cord from Cristina Rojas in 424 Barrows Hall

Saturday, May 18th- Senior Convocation

10:00am at California Memorial Stadium

 Sunday, May 19th- Commencement Day!
All graduates should arrive no later than 8:30 am.  Doors to Zellerbach will open at  8:00 am and seating is first-come, first-serve.   The procession will begin at 8:45am.

□  Sunday, May 19th- Senior Honors (H190 & H190B) Cords

Senior Honors (H190 & H190B) students will be given their cord at the Sociology Commencement ceremony.

Keep your address, phone, and email information current via Cal Central for at least 4 months after leaving Cal, in case the university needs to contact you about the processing of your degree.

 Diplomas for Spring 2019 graduates
